ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT IS PART OF OUR DNA

Johann Heinrich Wolfensberger was Director at the Anilinfarbenfabrik Gerber. When this company merged with the chemical multinational Ciba, he decided to go his own way. On July 1, 1898, he founded the trading company J. H. Wolfensberger & Cie. for textile dyes. Wilhelm Dolder, the great-grandfather of today‘s Chairman, followed his boss and mentor.

“EFFICIENT AND SOLID BUSINESSMEN, OF IMPECCABLE REPUTATION AND CHARACTER”

As noted in this analysis by an external consulting firm during the founding period, the entrepreneurial spirit still permeates our thinking and is strongly encouraged. The dichotomy between company and employees has been overcome, and the two are not separate realities but form a single entity that share common goals. We are a system in which different elements coexist, moving with a high degree of autonomy but in synchrony. Everyone is called upon to contribute ideas and solutions that can inspire the entire company. The result is a stimulating environment that creates wealth for everyone and is fairly distributed.

WE CREATE THE CONDITIONS FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL THINKING

The entrepreneurial spirit that started with our founders has spread throughout the organization. It needs to be fostered through trust and delegation and supported by skill enhancement and clarity of purpose. Our management model is perfectly suited to create the conditions necessary to achieve this goal.

We will continue to combine the enthusiasm of a start-up with the experience and heritage of a 125-year-old company.
