ACTIVATED CARBONACTIVATED CARBON THAT ALWAYS FITS!
This product is available in following country: Switzerland
WHAT IS ACTIVATED CARBON?
Activated carbons are carbonized absorption substances with high inner porosity and as a consequence, a large interior surface. Absorption is the process for removing liquid substances. Impurities are held inside the carbon material by electrostatic attraction (Van-Der-Waals forces) or chemisorption.
PROPERTIES
Depending on the area of application, activated carbons offer the following properties:
- Absorption of all organic substance
- Reduction: for example, the chemical removal of chlorine from water
- Activated carbon can catalyze a series of chemical transformations or it can be the carrier of the catalytic agent (e.g. a precious metal)
ACTIVATED CARBON IS A PERFECT CATALYST
- As a biomass carrier: carrier material in biological filters
- As a carrier of chemicals, e.g. for the delayed release of color: In liquorice, activated carbon supplies the typical black color
IN WHICH FORM IS ACTIVATED CARBON AVAILABLE?
The selection of the optimal activated carbon depends on various factors. In addition to the material data, other process-specific factors play a big role. Typically, powder activated carbons are added during the process (gas or liquid) and separated from the carrier by filtration or passage after a certain contact time. Important parameters are the required contact time, the dosing, the system used, the single- or multi-stage dosing, the activated carbon separation, as well as the existing safety measures.
Activated carbon granulate (ACG) is used primarily in fixed filter beds. The most important parameters include the required contact time, the use of a permanent or mobile absorber, the existing facilities for filling and draining, and the specified safety measures. Activated carbon granulate can be regenerated off or on-site.
