Quetiapine Fumarate (Seroquel®) is an active ingredient in the treatment of symptoms of schizophrenia with an unrivalled tolerance profile. In the case of long-term treatment, Quetiapine Fumarate does not affect weight and has no clinically significant effects on electrocardiograms. This combination distinguishes Quetiapine Fumarate from all atypical anti-pschychotics.

Patent
The basic patent EP240228 expired in March 2007. By virtue of the SPC (Supplementary Protection Certificate) Seroquel® is protected in EU countries against competition from generics.
